The building of a new terminal officially began Today marked as a "historic moment for Bermuda" according to premier Michael Dunkley it is the largest capital project the country has ever under taken.Partnered with the Canadian Government & Aecon
“This government to government plan enables us to have a new airport terminal, which is so desperately needed, to be built now without losing ownership of the airport itself,” Mr Dunkley said, extolling the project as a provider of jobs and new infrastructure that would bring “an energised aviation industry” to the island. Bob Richards, the Minister of Finance, said it had been “almost three years, to the day” since he learnt of CCC and began to study the financing model.
“Upon reflection, there are some things that we as a Government could have done differently — perhaps better,” he said.
“But there is one overriding lesson from the journey from three years ago up to today, and that lesson is this: if you know you’re doing the right thing for the right reasons, stick to it. Don’t give up, don’t give in, don’t lose heart. Keep working at it until you succeed. As we say in cricket, stay at the wicket, and the runs will come.”
