WhatsApp has confirmed it is currently experiencing a global outage.
It is not known how far the outage extends, but users have tweeted their complaints about the inability to send messages over the last few hours.

They have also posted memes mocking Mark Zuckerberg’s move, suggesting Facebook is trying to shut it down.
WhatsApp has over 450 million users each month with 70 per cent active on any given day. They have also had strong growth, with one million new registered users each day.
The deal is Facebook’s biggest acquisition and comes less than two years after Mark Zuckerberg’s firm raised $US16 billion in the richest tech sector public stock offering.
Facebook reportedly sought to acquire another hot messaging firm, Snapchat, for $US3 billion last year.
