A 27-year-old man is being treated in intensive care after being gunned down this morning — the second shooting in just over a week.
Just after 4 a.m. Police were called to Mission Lane, in Pembroke, to reports of gunshots.
A Police spokesman said: “Upon Police arrival it was ascertained that a 27-year-old Pembroke man was taken to the hospital where he is being treated for gunshot wounds to his body.” It is understood the man is in a stable condition in King Edward VII Memorial Hospital’s intensive care unit.
Last Saturday 26-year-old Jamaican, James (Junior) Lawes died after being gunned down outside his apartment building in Hamilton the previous night. He had been married for just four months. Two other men were also injured in the shooting.
Mr. Lawes was the sixth man to die in a firearms incident since May 2009 and today’s shooting is the 39th gun-related incident this year.
